SHOEI RF-1200 Harmonic Helmet Review
Transcript of Revzilla Review of the Shoei RF-1200 Harmonic Helmet:
“On the table today we have the SHOEI RF-1200 Harmonic Graphic. Now if you’re not familiar with the Shoei RF-1200, it is going to be constructed using an AIM+ composite shell. It is going to have an intermediate oval head shape. This is going to come in sizes from XS to XXL. Four shell sizes, four EPS liners. When we threw this one on the scale, it came in at 3 pounds 8 ounces in size medium. And that is carrying a DOT SNELL safety rating.
Now what you are going to see with the harmonic graphic is just an array of pretty pretty flowers. You got pink or blue to choose from. And you’re going to have a little bit of metallic sheen worked into the paint.
Like I said, two colors, all the flowers you could possibly want, you’re going to have blue or pink. One clear face shield is included in the box.”
So this review covers this popular helmet in more detail.

Overall Customer Experience
Many customers own or have purchased more than one RF-1200 due to its light weight, ventilation, safety, and comfort. Below are a few notable reviews:
My Second RF-1200
“My second RF-1200 and probably won’t be my last. Light weight, good venting, Snell rated, easy to remove visor and padding (for cleaning or changes), and always cool designs. I have a small noggin so I change the check and top padding for the thickest, and it works great. Added the transition shield and I’m set.” -Andrea J. , Five Stars
No brainer to protect your brain
“Had the RF-1200 for 3 years. This helmet is so comfortable. I have rode 500 miles in one day and the helmet never became uncomfortable. Super functional. I am buying a second RF-1200 post this rating. I have installed a Cardo in this helmet and it works great! Venting great. Also, I live and ride in Florida all summer long in the heat… vents have been tested. DOT and Snell rated. Great choice. 1 star off because of noise sometimes.” -Jeff D., Four Stars
Don’t hesitate, buy this helmet— especially if you’re a new rider.
“Incredibly comfortable, relatively quiet, and easy to install Cardo Packtalk onto. Thankfully can’t speak to the durability/protectiveness of it yet, but I’m comforted by video reviews/snell ratings/etc. that can attest to safety. Been riding in 90+ degree heat and feel like I get a good amount of air circulation as well. Ignore the price tag, this is the best deal comfort-wise and safety-wise. Also not a bad looking helmet.” -Carmen W., Five Stars
Shoei Delivers! Solid Helmet
I have an RF1200 myself, and I love the helmet … got the pink Harmonic for my GF who is starting to ride with me, for its safety, Snell and DOT ratings, and its grafics. She loves it, and seems comfortable wearing it. I have installed a Sena S20 v2 system on it, and it works well – helps with music, directions, and communications.
The grafics are cool, she rocks that helmet each and every ride. She has told me its comfortable with good noise reduction from the environment, and appropriate sound amplification with the Sena speakers.” -William E. P.
I would highly recommend this helmet!
Crash Tested Reviews
“I was in a wreck two weeks ago. A man driving in front of me made a sudden illegal u-turn on a curve and I hit him going about forty miles per hour. I was thrown fifty feet before slamming into a curb, which resulted in three broken ribs, some partially torn ligaments and a punctured lung. From the damage, it’s obvious that my head slammed into the ground. Hard. But the helmet did its job and did it well: I never had so much as a headache, and, in fact, my head is about the only part of me that didn’t hurt. This is a legit helmet, and if you value your life and your mind, it’s well worth the investment.” -Daniel M.
Passed the test
“I had my Shoei rf1200 for over a a year. It was a great helmet. Lots of vents, no complaints even after riding In Los Angeles year round.
I had this misfortune of testing out the safety of my helmet in a head on accident bike vs car. For reasons unknown the car driver decided to drive and accelerate into oncoming traffic. I remember hitting the windshield and flying after being ejected from my bike. I landed some 40 feet away from the crash, back on the pavement. Both the paramedics And the hospital doctors were very surprised my head had sustained zero injuries. The rest of my body was not as lucky, broken bones and bruises on 1/3 my body. The gear I wore saved my body from further injuries. After multiple rounds of CT scans the drs say I did not receive a brain injury.
Thank you Shoei, your Helmet saved my brain. I will buy another Shoei after I recover.” -Chris C.
“Had an accident and I had some internal bleeding in a few organs but my head was intact, not even a headache after the accident.” -Jomar S.
Really great helmet – crash report
“I’ve been using RF-1200 helmets for 6 years now, I’m down to my 3rd one. I love the fit, not sure if the airflow is better with other helmets but it’s good for me. Noise level is good, I usually wear earplugs for longer rides anyway.
I recently crashed on the track wearing a RF-1200, going about 90 miles an hour. I highsided and smashed into the pavement pretty hard. The helmet looked like a trainwreck but it did what it was built for: it kept me completely safe. Not as much as a headache. I immediately ordered a new one.” -Maarten O.
“I just got in a wreck about 5 days ago I flipped over the handle bars and it looks like I landed at the top of my head first. I feel fine and the helmet definitely appears to have done it’s job. I’m definitely going to get another one.
The helmet is loud. A SENA 30k doesn’t need to be cut to install however running the speakers is a pain. Airflow is normal to great. Overall I crashed and landed head first and walked away fine so I will be buying another.” -Anonymous Customer
Oh I crashed
“Went down with his helmet on. Low speed highside that smacked the back of my head on the ground. No concussions no whiplash just a headache for a couple days and a big crack/chip on the back of my helmet.
This was my 2nd helmet my first was a bell qualifyer dlx. I would juggle between these 2 and am I glad I had my shoei on. Insted of just riding with my bell from now on I purchased another rf1200. I have a solid filling if i was wearing that bell I would of gone to the hospital.
Remember you can buy to much bike but not to much helmet.” -Daniel W.
This helmet saved my life and I’m sold on shoei products for now on because of it.
“Bought this helmet a couple months ago, and going from a cheap $80 speed and strength to this was mind blowing. Had a pretty bad wreck a week ago and this helmet is the reason I was able to walk away from coming off the bike directly onto my head at 130mph or more. If it wasn’t for this helmet I probably wouldn’t be here so I have to thank shoei for offering top of the line protection with the added bonus of being light weight and extremely comfortable.” -Anonymous Customer
BEST HELMET EVER
“I didn’t Purchase my helmet here but this is the best helmet I ever had. Crashed with a car at 130+mph and the helmet saved my life and head 100% so comfortable and quiet! Love it.” -Mike E.

Tip for People with Intermediate to Round Oval Head Shape
This is a potential helmet for some with similar situation:
“Quality, High Functionality, Fits for a more Oval Face — My face is somewhere around an intermediate oval and round oval and the 35mm cheek pads are a bit tight after a lengthy ride. So I opted to order the 31 mm thick replacement pads at Revzilla and she fits very nicely. Really nice air flow and the visor design / inserts are very nice.” -Michael D.
