Great helmet

This is a vast improvement over the Quantum X that has served me well over the years. It’s lighter, air flows improved, and better vision. Only had it a week, but it’s been great. Only notable comment/observation is that it seem a bit noisier regarding wind noise. I haven’t taken it out beyond my commuter ride, so it is yet to be tested on the open road. Also notable is the 25mm cheek pads that required the additional purchase of thicker pads (tip: the thicker pads are peelable in 5mm layers, so going thick is a good idea knowing you can reduce the thickness if needed). “I have an SHOEI X12 for almost 5 years, so this is time to have a replacement. Compare to the X12, Quantum is smaller, it feels very nimble and gets a bit lighter for sure. It is very comfortable and fits my head perfectly, the cheek pads just snug my face comfortably. I switched to Arai with the Quantum 2 and realized I had no idea how comfortable a helmet could be until I tried that helmet on. I moved to the first model Defiant and now to the Quantum-X. The Quantum-X is so quiet compared to the Defiant, but moves less air although the airflow is above average. Super comfortable liner and padding with a tremendous field of view and lens clarity. The VAS-Max took some practice and getting used to compared to the previous shield system, but the seal is fantastic. No wind buffeting or whistles while on the highway with little to no windshield. “On the table today we have the SHOEI RF-1200 Harmonic Graphic. Now if you’re not familiar with the Shoei RF-1200, it is going to be constructed using an AIM+ composite shell. It is going to have an intermediate oval head shape. This is going to come in sizes from XS to XXL. Four shell sizes, four EPS liners. When we threw this one on the scale, it came in at 3 pounds 8 ounces in size medium. And that is carrying a DOT SNELL safety rating.

Now what you are going to see with the harmonic graphic is just an array of pretty pretty flowers. You got pink or blue to choose from. And you’re going to have a little bit of metallic sheen worked into the paint.

Like I said, two colors, all the flowers you could possibly want, you’re going to have blue or pink. One clear face shield is included in the box.”

I have an RF1200 myself, and I love the helmet … got the pink Harmonic for my GF who is starting to ride with me, for its safety, Snell and DOT ratings, and its grafics. “I was in a wreck two weeks ago. A man driving in front of me made a sudden illegal u-turn on a curve and I hit him going about forty miles per hour. “I had my Shoei rf1200 for over a a year. It was a great helmet. Lots of vents, no complaints even after riding In Los Angeles year round. 

I had this misfortune of testing out the safety of my helmet in a head on accident bike vs car. For reasons unknown the car driver decided to drive and accelerate into oncoming traffic. I remember hitting the windshield and flying after being ejected from my bike. I landed some 40 feet away from the crash, back on the pavement. Both the paramedics And the hospital doctors were very surprised my head had sustained zero injuries. The rest of my body was not as lucky, broken bones and bruises on 1/3 my body. The gear I wore saved my body from further injuries. After multiple rounds of CT scans the drs say I did not receive a brain injury.

“I’ve been using RF-1200 helmets for 6 years now, I’m down to my 3rd one. I love the fit, not sure if the airflow is better with other helmets but it’s good for me. Noise level is good, I usually wear earplugs for longer rides anyway.

I recently crashed on the track wearing a RF-1200, going about 90 miles an hour. I highsided and smashed into the pavement pretty hard.
